Thoughts for Giving Tuesday
The single, most common, restriction Donors' request: "I want all of my donation to go to programs, none to administration." is also the most short sighted. Non-profits have overhead, just like the business that made the donor's pledge possible.
“No one wants to donate to the General Administrative Fund of a charity. It is easy to understand, intellectually, why general funds would be needed – someone’s got to buy the staples – but it’s hard to generate a lot of passion for office supplies.” (Heath and Heath, Made to Stick, Random House 2008)
